Compliance Administration FAQs

Straightforward answers to the questions CCOs ask most before choosing a compliance partner.

Compliance support comes in a lot of forms — outsourced CCOs, software platforms, traditional consultants. Fairview is different: we’re a full-service extension of your compliance team, executing the work directly. Below are answers to the questions we hear CCOs ask most when evaluating a partner.

Q: Does Fairview act as our outsourced CCO?

A: No. Fairview does not take on the Chief Compliance Officer title or serve as your firm’s CCO of record. The SEC views outsourced CCO arrangements as a heightened risk area. Instead, we support your in-house compliance team directly. We take on the bulk of the day-to-day compliance workload including execution, documentation, testing, filings, and exam prep, so your CCO can spend their time on oversight and judgment instead of administrative burden.

Q: Does Fairview give us software or a checklist to work through?

A: No. Fairview is a full-service compliance partner. We don’t provide a software license for your team to operate, and we don’t hand you a checklist to complete on your own. Our team executes the work directly, as an extension of your firm.

Q: What’s the difference between Fairview and a compliance software platform?

A: Compliance software platforms flag potential issues and leave interpretation, escalation, and resolution to your internal team. Fairview’s team does that work directly. AI supports a first-pass review on specific tasks, and a dedicated Fairview compliance professional completes the work, including documentation, filings, and follow-through.

  1. How much of the compliance work does Fairview handle versus our team?
  2. Fairview takes on the bulk of the work. Execution, documentation, testing, filings, and exam preparation are handled directly by your dedicated Fairview team. Your in-house CCO retains oversight and final authority over the compliance program, but the day-to-day workload sits with us, not your team.

Q: What’s the difference between Fairview and a traditional compliance consultant?

A: Traditional consultants often diagnose an issue and leave the firm to implement the fix. Fairview implements it. Our compliance professionals execute the work directly. Our goal is to take on the bulk of the compliance work, in addition to helping guide clients through regulatory changes and complex regulatory issues.

Q: Is our firm’s data used to train AI models?

A: No. Fairview’s AI tools are proprietary technology, built and maintained in-house specifically for compliance use cases. Client data is never used to train AI models.

Q: Who reviews the output of Fairview’s AI tools?

A: Every AI-assisted task, from marketing review to Form CRS/ADV reconciliation, is reviewed and signed off on by a Fairview compliance professional, the same person who already knows your firm.
