What happened?
The FINRA Entitlement Platform began rolling out ID.me verification for investment advisers back in May, and the final wave is coming to a close in September. The next wave for new and existing accounts for broker-dealers will begin on September 28, 2026.
ID.me is certified to federal standards for identity verification, and the change will enhance security for FINRA’s systems. Super Account Administrators are the point of contact. Upon selection, the administrator will receive a list of in-scope accounts and a list of entitlements (account privileges) that require identity verification.
To verify, follow FINRA’s step-by-step guide, which includes the steps for gathering required documents, verifying account information, reviewing permissions for employees and service providers, and creating an ID.me account.
What does this mean for me?
All investment advisers that are current users of FINRA’s platform should have been contacted regarding ID.me verification. If you have not completed this process, do so immediately. Maintaining access for you and your service providers depends on completing this process.
If you rely on service providers, such as Fairview, to access your FINRA platform and complete work on your behalf, know that new access must be established through ID.me verification to continue that work.
