What happened?
FINRA is enhancing security on the FINRA Entitlement Platform by introducing identity verification through ID.me, which is certified to federal standards for identity verification. For Super Account Administrators (SAAs), this new requirement will be phased in over four months from May 11, 2026, through September 14, 2026, in weekly waves. Each week, a new group of in-scope users will be selected to complete verification. These users will receive a report of in-scope accounts and a list of entitlements (account privileges) that require identity verification.
What does this mean for me?
If you are a user of FINRA’s platform, you could be receiving messages from FINRA now about these planned changes. Starting May 11th, when selected, you will need to follow FINRA’s step-by-step guides for verifying your identity, which include gathering required documents, verifying account information, reviewing permissions for employees and service providers, and creating an ID.me account.
